Dark Souls 2 Gameplay Footage Released

Prepare to Die Until You Cry Like A Bitch Edition: Coming Soon

Well, I know a lot of people have been waiting to get their hands on some Dark Souls 2 footage, and here it is. Today, IGN released a video showcasing some new gameplay features in From Software’s working title, Dark Souls 2 (or II if you’re picky), which is a prequel to their previously successful game, Dark Souls. The footage is narrated by IGN interviewer Marty Sliva, Global Producer of NamcoBandai Tak Miyazoe, and From Software’s lead director, Yui Tanimura.

The developers were focused on graphical power for a more immersible experience and keeping the game’s overall feel the same in general. They’ve also put effort in to making the game more accessible. Now, that doesn’t mean it’ll cater to casuals and ruin a core part of the gameplay; it just means that the menus and similar things will be less cryptic, which I can appreciate. The first time I played Dark Souls, a lot of things were alien to me. I had to use Youtube and ask people I knew to clarification. Over time, I learned, but the first time playing can be intimidating due to the game’s natural mechanics.

And some other small details.

A lot of people were scared that From Software would water the game down and make it too easy, but they’ve clarified that they had no intentions of making the game easier for general audiences. Talk about good news.

Anyways, if you haven’t already, watch that 12 minute demo video and catch a sneak peek at the new locations and features Dark Souls 2 is bringing to the table.

Are you excited for Dark Souls 2? I know I am.

    • The game encourages forethought and adaptability. Watering it down would make the game easier for those who know of Dark Souls’ “difficulty”, which is the first thing anyone ever mentions about Dark Souls. Keeping the difficulty makes the player have to become more skillful to progress, yaknow?
