E3 Recap – EA

So, the press conference for the legendarily bad EA just ended. How’d they do?

Eh, just how you expected them to do. They started off with an applause-less showing of Plant s VS Zombies: Garden Warfare. From their bad start, the moved on to the two highlights of their presentation: details on Titanfall (Xbox One, PS4, and PC) and a teaser for Star Wars: Battlefront 3. From their, it steadily declined into shitty games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and EA’s millions upon millions of sports games. The only thing after those worth talking about were the Battlefield 4 multiplayer and the announcement for Mirror’s Edge 2.

EA hired multiple celebrity guest speakers Like Aaron Paul, Bruce Buffer, Kyrie Irving, and Drake to talk about their oncoming products. Kind of sad to see EA resorting to paid celebrities, but I didn’t expect much from them in the first place.

The sound operator from the Microsoft guy must’ve been the the sound operator for EA, since during the entire presentation, talking and giggling could be overheard from a rogue microphone left on during the entirety of the presentation. Definitely not making a good impression with that one.

In summary, EA’s conference can be put this way:

  • Ttanfall not being exclusive to Xbox One thank God
  • Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was teased
  • Battlefield 4 multiplayer showed off some good physics due to their new Ignite and Frostbite 3 engines
  • Mirror’s Edge 2 was announced.

The rest of it was eerily similar to this

EA didn’t help themselves trying to appeal to the casual audience at the biggest gaming convention of the year. They stuck out like a sore thumb, and everyone felt too awkward to point it out. Like the guy who shows up to your party and keeps talking about his rash.
