Zelda and Mario have become the newest additions to the crossovers featured in the Monster Hunter games as shown in a recently revealed Nintendo Direct highlight about Monster Hunter 4. this marks the first Nintendo themed corssover for the Monster Hunter series.
Fans of The Legend of Zelda can play as their favorite green-clad hero in the world of Monster Hunter and have their choice between the Hero’s Bow and the infamous Master Sword. Alongside the Hero of Time fight your trusty Felynes adorned as the plumbing duo Mario and Luigi, complete with their hammers and mustaches.
Monster Hunter has always been subject to strange DLC crossovers since it’s one of the most popular series in Japan. Some of the more notable appearances are Hatsune Miku, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Metal Gear Solid, Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), a slew of other popular anime, and even the popular snack food Pocky.
The Monster HunterxMetal Gear Solid crossover was special in the fact that each game made an appearance in the other. Monster Hunter received armors in the style of notable characters like Big Boss, and MGS: Peace Walker had DLC missions where you fight Rathalos and Tigrex.
I wonder if Capcom will announce any more crossovers before release, or if the Zelda/Mario DLC will be released overseas. Let’s hope, eh?
