Fun Fact: Fire Emblem (NSFW-ish)

Battle2

Another interesting and sexy tidbit for you all.

“Oh man, that title sounds like his Valkyria Chronicles article about Honjou Raita. Is he at it again?”

You bet I am. I took note of this connection a while back and never bothered to connect the dots until fairly recently. Another thing that tempts me to write this article is that fact that I already did something like this for Valkyria Chronicles, and video game trivia is something that’s always welcome around here, and especially if it’s sexy. Before I go in though, I need to give you a bit of history. It also helps to have read my other article on Valkyria Chronicles, so I’ll just put this here for you.

As you all are aware, I love the Fire Emblem series. In fact, if you type in Fire Emblem in the search bar, you’ll get a lot of Fire Emblem shit no one but me cares about. The undoubtedly most famous character from the series, Marth, has starred in a total of four games (with two being remakes) in the thirteen total games, not including his guest appearances in Super Smash Bros. These games are Fire Emblem: Ankouryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi (or more commonly known by number, FE1), Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo (FE3), Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (FE11), and Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo ~ Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu (FE12). Don’t worry, I won’t use the full names, as meticulously typing those out over and over again would wear thin on my sanity.

Anyways,  out of those three games, only Shadow Dragon saw a western release. FE1 and FE3 were for the NEs and SNES respectively, but at the time, Fire Emblem was not a popular series in the west. Fire Emblem only gained popularity after the release of Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword (FE7) and the inclusion of Marth and Roy in the Gamecube hard-hitter Super Smash Bros. Melee. After these two events occurred, FE gained enough popularity to warrant western releases, meaning FE1/3 never saw the western hemisphere until emulation methods improved.

By the time Shadow Dragon released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS, Fire Emblem was well-known enough to get a world-wide release, meaning Shadow Dragon was the first title starring Marth and the first cast of characters to be released outside of Japan. The artstyle was very different, both in game and in character portraits and was not the usual Fire Emblem style. So why am I bringing this up?

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon’s artwork was done by Masamune Shirow, reknown for his work on the series Ghost in the Shell.

“Let me guess; he draws hentai like Raita?”

You bet. Both Fire Emblem:Shadow Dragon and Valkyria Chronicles have hired skilled hentai artists to set the art direction and do character designs. And I have no idea why two of my favorite series have had smut artists work on them in some way. To this very moment, I still don’t know how I feel about such a coincidence happening to me twice, and I still wonder how my hand got down my pants without my noticing.

Ooooh Marth, you sexy beast. Oh, the blonde’s hot too.

Take of this what you will, but I previously knew of Masamune Shirow’s occupation, but I’ve never compared his work to his work on Shadow Dragon, so I went exploring for something to show you guys. The above is probably one of his few works that aren’t completely hardcore porn. Like, I’ll be honest with you. After searching through some dark places to find some usable images for this article, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many women get gangbanged and scissored that quickly in my life times three. Yeah, nothing’s wrong with pornography as long as it’s legal and whatnot, but come the fuck on Shirow. This guy barely does anything that doesn’t involve a woman taking it from every direction or getting buried under a pile of horny women.  GIVE ME SOMETHING TO SHOW MY READERS THAT’S NOT DOUBLE PENETRATION

To summarize, Masamune Shirow was the lead artist on Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. He’s mainly known for his hentai and his work for Ghost in the Shell, which if you really want to bring it back around, has had two major video games based on it. Ghost in the Shell is also the subject of an incoming FPS MMO hosted by Nexon. Fire Emblem and Valkyria Chronicles are also both strategy games, so what is it about strategy games that attracts hentai artists? A wide cast of characters I guess? Iunno. Just take your game trivia so I can go back to trying not to touch myself.

Just kidding. Anyways, Happy Late Holidays you perverts.

  1. Hey, it’s not as if Ghost in the Shell is anything to sniff at. The movie (directed by Mamoru Oshii) was very highly regarded and instrumental in increasing awareness of anime in the West.
